For the advanced approach of study “Practical Knowledge seems to be mandatory along with theoretical one”, Concerning with the same issues our school prepared a plan about “ A day expedition to Kavre” for class 10 students to enrich our skills, knowledge through social studies and EPH subjects. All the students of class 10 and particular teachers asserted the proposal of the excursion. The day was scheduled on 3rd August 2018. We got our social teacher Hom Bahadur GC and EPH teacher Krishna Pd. Siwakoti as our guide and Vice-Principal Sir Jayendra Sharma as our supervisor. A kind of euphoria was on the face of all students. Our major sites were Chandeshwori temple of Banepa, Panauti Hydropower project and Balthali Eco-tourism village. Our school reserved up a public bus for transportation facility. Then, we all students of class X got inside the bus with our teachers and headed up to our destination at 8:30 am from school. We sang so many songs, cracked jokes etc. All were having charming face with glee. We left Kathmandu. Lalitpur passed through Jagati, Sanga and turned up to Kavre district. We reached Banepa city. Meanwhile, we started taking out our snacks and started eating by sharing it.
We went to Chandeshwori temple by taking a turn to north-east of Banepa. We parked our bus and walked for a minute to reach there. While heading towards the temple, we passed through a Newari Tol that was complete example of Newari culture and tradition. We entered the temple premises. That was amazing. There was a big Chandeshwori temple and some other temples. We interviewed with local people. We asked some questionnaire to them. According to them, the temple was constructed by Mall King in 17th century at the honour of Chandeshwori Goddess. There was a fabulous graffiti of a demon having meticulous life on the wall. Significantly, we got chance to know about the historical background of that temple. We clicked some photos there. The temple area, its wood and stone carving were spelled bounding. Afterwards, we moved towards the Panauti Hydropower Project. We again started singing the song. All the students were enjoying and laughing by looking the dance of our Krishna Sir. We passed Panauti Bazaar and reached Khopasi area where there was small hydropower project. We gave glance to that dam and our teachers provided us the lunch, we started at that dam and looked the process of water flow in that tunnel. We moved towards electricity production area. We walked nearly 10-15 minutes to reach that site. We saw turbine for electricity production.
We got to know that its production capacity was only 2.4 MW. However, it was a small project; it provided us ample information to comprehend the electricity production process. We were notified that electricity was not being produced from long time ago to tunnel cleaning activities. We again clicked some photos. Officials of Hydropower Project clearly told us that it was constructed under the diplomatic relation between the kingdom of Nepal and USSR. Then we geared up to Balthali Eco-tourism village resort. We did trekking for 30 to 45 minutes. We passed through a suspension bridge which was quite adventurous as it was constructed at noticeable height from the river. At the same time, I remembered the Nepal’s longest and largest (in terms of altitudes) suspension bridge that is located near to my village (Kusma, Parbat). Some students were feeling it as a tedious walk but I was amused a lot because the off-roads were similar to the roads of my village. After the walk of 30-45 minutes, we reached to Balthali. During trekking, we saw some foreign tourist coming to visit Balthali. I took a long breath and threw it slowly. I enjoyed the panoramic view of the green hills. We were divided into groups by our teachers and accordingly we went to houses of that area for an interview. We entered in a house and were served water as a welcome. Then we started asking some questionnaires to Gopini Sapkota our interviewed local residential person she told us everything in a vivid manner. We were happy to get the information in short interview. At last, we were again served water for last impression. After we accomplished our interview we all groups met in a fixed location. After clicking some photos there, we started moving towards Khopasi. I was refreshed a lot due to the natural scenery. When we were almost near to Khopasi, we started buying some snacks in a shop. Luckily that shop was of Nepal’s best booker and he showed us some magic of cards. We all were jubilant and started cheering him. Thereafter, we moved to Khopasi and got inside the bus, then we returned to Kathmandu. All students started the same things. i.e. singing, cracking jokes etc. We left Panauti, Banepa and whole kavre district. We entered in Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and then Kathmandu. I got opportunity to act as if I were a journalist which was a innovative experience even in my school life. Eventually, such excursion are booster for students to make us innovative and reflective. So, I would like to acknowledge my Angels’ Heart School and team for providing us privilege of such beneficial tour.
