Dr. Sunduk Ruit, born in 1954 in the Taplejung district of Nepal, is a distinguished figure in the world of ophthalmology. His remarkable journey has been marked by a relentless dedication to eliminating preventable blindness in some of the world's most impoverished regions.
Dr. Ruit co-founded the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology in Kathmandu, Nepal, which has been a hub for eye care excellence one of his most notable contributions to the field is the development of the "Nepal Method", a groundbreaking and cost-effective technique for cataract surgery. This method involves a small a small incision and the use of an intraocular lens, making cataract surgery accessible to even the poorest communities.
Through his innovative approach, Dr. Ruit has restored sight to thousands of people who would otherwise have been condemned to blindness due to cataracts. His work has not only transformed the lives of countless individuals but also served as a model for similar initiatives worldwide.
