Schooling System in Nepal

Nepal is a developing country. So, every aspect whether sports or science and technology are developing but, not completely developed yet. Similarly, educational system of Nepal is also developing.

The schooling system in Nepal is not standardized, Even at the age of 2 or 3 years, the children are sent to school. And even in nursery, they are given homework and in LKG or UKG even beaten for not doing homework. This is the very reason that children will be dull at the age like 12-15 years. In the developed countries like USA and UK,  the children are sent to school at the age of 5 years which make them active and energetic. In Nepal, at the age of 3, they are taught English language and not given priority to their mother tongue. In Japan, only after their primary level is passed they are allowed to speak English.

But, you know in Nepal!

Another problem of schooling system in Nepal is about practical education. Practical education is equally important as much as theoretical education.  But, most of the schools in Nepal only focus on theoretical education. The students in Nepal are not so practical and are book-worms. From the morning 9 am to 4 pm they are kept in school with almost not any refreshment period. As an example, Nepal is an agricultural country where various types of crops are grown from Terai to mountain region. Students are also taught about it. If crops are monocot or dicot, have reticulate or parallel venation. But, if you keep wheat and barley together and ask lower secondary level student to differentiate it then, student can’t. And, the student living in a country where 60% of people are depended upon agriculture. Yes, it’s true that if the students are given more time for playing then, their study may hamper. But, providing refreshments may not always means to play. During 45 mins of period , can’t 5 to 10 mins be spend creating/thinking, short but informative stories, sweet poems/songs. It makes the students fresh and energetic. In Nepal, teachers are pressurized to complete the course no matter if students understand it and students are pressurized to score marks no matter even if it is by cheating. The dialogue, “Bring zero, but don’t bring even 1 marks by CHEATING have become just a dialogue in Nepal.”  Therefore, students are just taught to score A+, but not how to get A+. There will be about 40 students in a class where every student is taught with  same method. How could  every 40 students brain function in a same way? Can a doctor give the same medicine for all diseases? If doctor gives same medicine for all diseases, the result will be drastic. Similarly, the mechanism of every student's brain is different. As an example, a fish can swim not walk and if it is taught to walk for all its life also,  can it walk? Of course not. Similarly, if a student has talent in dancing he/she can perform far better in dancing and the like.

The students are only taught to obtain the highest mark. So, every students run after the marks than knowledge. If you ask the simple mathematical question who have passed SEE, they can't even answer that question. They were taught just to pass the exam. And later on, they forget all! Therefore, they should be given practical knowledge. Thus, the schooling system of Nepal must be improved.
